My name is Steffane McLennan, I am twenty-two years old and this will be my fifth year teaching at JD’s Fabulous Feet. I recently graduated from the University of Alberta in June 2016 with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Biochemistry and achieved First Class Honors. This year, I will be starting my first year of a Master’s in Biochemistry program at the University of Alberta under the supervision of Dr. Michael Overduin. My research will involve targeted drug discovery for a currently untreatable form of Breast Cancer, namely Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
I began my dance training when I was 3 years old and have trained in Al Gilbert tap, RAD and Cecchetti ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical and contemporary disciplines. I danced at Dancermaker Studio in Lacombe with Miss Cara Schultz, and at Andy and Tina’s Dance FX in Wetaskiwin during my years of competitive dance training. For the past two years, I have been dancing with a contemporary dance company through the University of Alberta called MOD. This company is a student run, student choreographed group on campus and I have been able to meet many extremely talented dancers and wonderful people through MOD. It has been a great experience and I recommend that any graduating JD’s dancers pursuing post-secondary at the University of Alberta consider auditioning for this company.
This upcoming season I will be choreographing many solo routines at JD’s Fabulous Feet and I can’t wait to see what this year brings!
